Laura Linney's portrayal as vulnerable, yet strong characters has made her one of the top American actors. Her father was a renowned playwright, but she was raised as an only child by a single mom and nurse. During the summers, while with her dad Linney discovered a love for the theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. Within a mere two years after graduation, she launched her Broadway-based career. The following year she made her first appearance in film and television. She has appeared on numerous stages, films and television productions since then. Her achievements have been numerous over the course of her career such as four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of numerous awards the theatre is still her primary passion and she continues to perform both in stage and screen.
