April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) started her musical journey in the 7th grade when she started guitar and piano lessons. When she was in seventh grade, April began taking piano and guitar lessons. The lessons sparked her passion in writing songs. When she was 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing and honed her musicianship skills. The following months, she began taking notes with her father to LA and NY. April began also to incorporate additional topics that were related to of her friends dealing with issues such as bullying by peers and teen suicide in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart works in partnerships at popular clean beauty brand Ilia as well as a lifestyle influencer who has a growing fan base. Lockhart was never born with a left hand, and that is why she's what she is. But that's far from the whole story. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't conceal her handicap, but it doesn't focus solely on the issue. What message is it sending? The message is that we are more than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and encompass a variety of dimensions. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I am not convinced that my physical appearance should define my character. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability, because I've so much more to offer." My daily life isn't directly affected by disability. I go about my regular day-to-day life and discover my own solutions to issues. It's also a part of me, and I believe it's something that needs to be addressed. Self-acceptance is a long marathon but Lockhart is a true inspiration on that front. She still admits having gone through a series of phases regarding her appearance, feeling uneasy in some instances to wear clothing that displayed the arms of her. Now she wears whatever outfit she wishes and shares pictures on Facebook with pride. The self-love she talks about is a process. It's not clear if you'll ever reach the end. However, that is typical for people with doubts. The people around you with, who know you and see through your eyes are the best people to remind you of what you're worrying about.
